Situated in the Legislative Building's north wing, the Library traces its roots back to 1792 when it began as the parliamentary Library of Upper Canada. It now provides timely, professional and comprehensive information and research services to Members of the Provincial Parliament (MPPs), legislative committees and Legislative Assembly officials. While not open to the public, the Library makes a number of information papers available online and works with other libraries to ensure that unique documents within its holdings are made available to the public by appointment.
The Legislative Library of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario contributes to the effective functioning of the Legislative Assembly by providing information and research services to MPPs, legislative committees and Legislative Assembly officials.
